Bubble Suspension
Designer Background
The Bubble collection is designed by Gabriele Ghetti — the co-founder of Gamma Arredamenti itself. In 1974, Gabriele Ghetti and colleague Carla Botti founded Gamma Arredamenti in Italy, building it into the premium furniture brand reviewed in this series. The Bubble lamp is therefore not a commissioned outside-designer piece but a founder-designed complement — a personal creative expression from the person who built the brand. This gives the Bubble a particular significance within the Gamma catalog: it is not simply a product accessory but a design statement from the brand’s own creative origin.
Overview
The design-forward Bubble lamp: an intriguing source of light of artisanal appeal that will instantly transform the ambiance. It consists of five globules of blown Murano glass in an array of different shades and sizes that will allow you to put your own personal stamp on the environment.
What the Bubble Suspension Is
The suspension (pendant/chandelier) version of the Bubble collection is the hanging pendant format — five blown Murano glass globes suspended from cables at varying heights from a horizontal ceiling bar or ceiling plate. The Bubble exists in three lamp formats sharing the same five-globe Murano glass design language:
Suspension / Chandelier — ceiling-hung, the pendant version reviewed here
Floor Lamp — freestanding, with the five globes climbing a vertical steel pole (70"H / 180cm)
Table Lamp — a smaller tabletop version
The suspension format is specifically called a Linear Suspension Lamp at key authorized retailers — the ceiling bar is a horizontal linear structure from which the five globes descend at varying cable lengths, creating a dynamic, asymmetric hanging composition.
The Five Murano Glass Globes: The Defining Design Element
The entire visual identity of the Bubble lamp rests on its five blown Murano glass globes — five spherical glass shades, irregularly molded and individually hand-blown at different sizes, descending from the ceiling at varying cable lengths. No two are at the same height; no two are the same size. The composition they form together is deliberately dynamic and organic — a cloud of suspended glass orbs that reads differently from every angle.
Two globe sizes:
Small globes (6" diameter): Two of the five shades are 6" diameter
Large globes (9" diameter): Three of the five shades are 9" diameter
The combination of two small and three large creates a deliberately weighted, asymmetric visual rhythm — not a uniform grid, but a natural-feeling cluster, as if bubbles had floated to the ceiling and paused there.
Three glass finishes:
Transparent — clear blown glass, the most luminous option, allowing full light transmission
Fume — a smoky gray-brown toned glass, creating a warmer, more intimate glow
Amber — a warm golden-toned glass, the warmest and most jewel-like finish
Standard configuration (from Cantoni):
Small shades (2 × 6"): Transparent + Amber
Large shades (3 × 9"): Transparent + Fume + Amber
This three-finish combination across five globes creates a layered, multi-tonal light effect when illuminated — each globe emits a slightly different quality of light, from the clear brightness of transparent through the amber warmth to the smoky depth of fume, all simultaneously visible as a single composition.
The Structure: Anthracite Titanium Steel + Brass Details
The ceiling bar and cable structure is anthracite lacquered titanium steel — a deep charcoal near-black finish that recedes visually, keeping the Murano glass globes as the dominant visual element. The details (cable connectors, hardware, accent elements) are brass lacquered metal — a warm gold-tone metallic that complements all three glass colorways, particularly the amber finish.
An alternative brass frame is also available for the full structure rather than just the details, providing a warmer, more maximalist presentation where the ceiling bar and cables read as golden rather than dark.
