Overview
The Parma is Mobican's flagship upholstered bed — a fully fabric-upholstered platform bed with invisible reading lights with integrated individual controls, a finished back, and a wood frame available in 11 finish options. It is the bed that pairs with the Ema storage collection in all lifestyle photography, establishing the Parma + Ema as Mobican's signature bedroom suite.
What Makes the Parma Unique: Five Defining Features
1. Hidden Reading Lights with Individual Controls
The Parma's most premium and distinctive feature is its invisible reading lights — integrated LED lighting built into the headboard structure and hidden from view, with individual controls on each side of the bed. "Individual controls" means each side of the bed can independently turn their reading light on or off — a practical detail for couples with different schedules or reading habits. The lights are invisible when off (seamlessly integrated into the headboard fabric/frame without visible fixtures) and illuminate downward toward each sleeper when activated.
This is the Parma's direct counterpart to the Ema dresser's LED-lit top drawers — both pieces share a commitment to integrated, hidden lighting technology as a defining premium feature. Across the full Parma + Ema suite, LED lighting is a consistent design element.
2. Dual-Material Construction: Upholstered Fabric + Wood Frame
The Parma is not an all-upholstered bed like the Trica Nuance (which is purely steel and fabric). The Parma uses both an upholstered fabric surface and a wood frame structure — the hero display configuration (Havana on walnut / Boca 601 fabric) shows the wood frame as a visible design element alongside the fabric-covered headboard and panels. This dual-material approach places the Parma in a distinct category from both all-upholstered beds and all-wood beds — it is a hybrid that combines the warmth of wood (in any of 11 finishes) with the softness and customization of fabric upholstery.
3. Easily Removable Fabric Panels
The fabric-upholstered panels of the Parma are easily removable — a design-forward practical detail that allows the fabric to be removed for cleaning, replacement, or reupholstering without disassembling the entire bed. This is uncommon in upholstered furniture and meaningful over a bed's lifetime: fabrics wear, styles change, and the ability to re-cover the Parma's panels at a future date extends its useful life significantly.
4. Removable Bed Frame for Adjustable Base Compatibility
The Parma's bed frame is removable to accommodate an adjustable metal mattress base — allowing it to be used with a motorized adjustable base (head-up, foot-up functionality) rather than only a standard flat platform. This compatibility is increasingly important as adjustable bases become mainstream in the premium mattress market.
5. Broad Mattress Compatibility
The Parma can accommodate an 8" to 18" mattress — one of the widest mattress height ranges encountered in this series. Most platform beds specify a narrower range; the Parma's 10" span accommodates everything from a slim foam mattress to the thickest hybrid or pillow-top options without the headboard looking disproportionate.
Key observations:
All four sizes share a 55" headboard height — a tall, generous headboard that creates a strong visual presence and provides ample surface for the hidden reading lights to be integrated at a comfortable illumination height.
The 11.5" floor-to-mattress-top distance (before adding mattress) applies to all sizes — a moderate platform height that isn't as dramatically low as the Trica Nuance (9.5") nor as raised as a traditional box spring setup.
The 48" bed (1PAR05TL) is an unusual size offering — 48" wide × 79" long is larger than a standard twin (38"×75") but smaller than a full/double (54"×75"), historically called a "three-quarter" bed. At 52.25" overall width it fits tighter bedroom spaces or guest rooms while retaining the full Parma design.
Wood Frame Finish Options (11 — identical to the Ema collection)
Oak-based:
124 Light grey on oak
126 Charcoal on oak
127 Matte black on oak
171 White washed on oak
173 Smoked oak
175 Rustic oak
595 Oxford white on oak
Walnut-based:
The Parma and Ema share an identical finish palette — making the two collections perfectly coordinated in every wood tone. This is not coincidental; it is clearly by design, allowing customers to build a fully matched Parma bed + Ema storage suite in any of 11 consistent wood finishes.
Fabric Options: 100+ Choices Across 18 Fabric Families
The Parma offers one of the most expansive upholstery palettes encountered in this entire series — 18 named fabric families with multiple colorways each, totaling over 100 individual fabric/color combinations. The families span a wide range of textile types
