Quasar Dining Table
Design Aesthetic: “Precious Inspiration”
Naos positions the Quasar under the label “Precious Inspiration” — a curatorial designation that sets it apart from more utilitarian pieces in the Naos collection. The photography confirms this: multiple images show the Quasar in dramatically lit, architecturally resolved room scenes that read as editorial rather than retail — dark dramatic environments, reflective surfaces, carefully staged compositions. The table is designed to be photographed, to be admired, to be the center of a room’s visual conversation.
The name Quasar — an astronomical phenomenon, one of the most luminous and energetic objects in the known universe, powered by supermassive black holes — is a fitting choice for a table this technically ambitious and visually dramatic. A quasar outshines entire galaxies; the Quasar table is designed to outshine any room it enters.
Construction & Materials: Four Configuration Dimensions
The Quasar is available in a matrix of top material and leg material combinations:
Top Materials (2 options):
Crystal (Glass) — tempered or laminated glass top in a choice of colors and finishes. Multiple glass photography configurations are shown including clear, smoked, and tinted glass options.
Ceramic — engineered ceramic/porcelain top — the same material category as the Amisco Calypso’s Italian Porcelain on Glass top, but here applied across the full Naos Quasar top. Ceramic is scratch-resistant, heat-resistant, and stain-resistant — the premium choice for daily dining use.
Leg Materials (2 options):
Chromed Steel — high-gloss chrome-plated steel legs with a mirror-bright, warm silver finish. The most dramatic and high-contrast option, particularly against glass tops.
Laminated Glass Legs — legs constructed from laminated glass — a structural engineering feat that makes the table’s support structure itself transparent. Glass legs are among the most technically demanding furniture components to produce; they require specially engineered laminated glass with defined strength characteristics, and their transparency creates the illusion of a floating table top with almost no visible support. This is an extremely rare and premium option that virtually no other manufacturer reviewed in this series offers.
Shapes Available: Rectangular, Oval, and Fixed
Three configurations are documented in the technical PDF:
RE — Rectangular Extendable
The primary configuration — a rectangular table with the synchronized side-opening + center leaf-raising mechanism.
Closed: 200cm × 120cm × 75cm H (78.74" × 47.24" × 29.53"H) — seats 6
Open: 280cm × 120cm × 75cm H (110.24" × 47.24" × 29.53"H) — seats 8–10
The extension adds 80cm (31.5") of length — from 200cm to 280cm. This is a substantial extension, significantly larger than the 24" butterfly leaf of the Amisco Lucarelli or the Calligaris Omnia’s 56cm extension.
Oval Extendable
An oval version of the same synchronized extension mechanism — the table opens from a closed oval to a larger oval. Dimensions follow the same 200cm / 280cm length range in oval form.
Rectangular Fixed
A non-extendable fixed rectangular version for customers who prefer a permanent configuration without the extension mechanism.
Table height: 75cm (29.53") — standard dining height, consistent across all configurations.
